Bookmory checked on 3 November 2026: App Store listing, play.google.com/store/apps/details.
Book Nook has all 16 features in the table. Of the nine apps in our comparison of bookshelf apps, no other app has more than 12. Bookmory's details are from its App Store and Google Play listings, checked on 3 November 2026.
Bookshelf view, themes and decorations
Book Nook draws your books as covers standing on wooden shelves, and of the nine apps we compared it is the only one that shows your books on a bookshelf. You drag each book into place, so the shelf on screen can match the one in your room. A book can stand cover-out or spine-out and can lean to one side.
There are five themes: Simple, Dark Academia, Cottagecore, Coquette and Matcha Cafe. You can also design your own, choosing the colours of the wall, boards and frame, an arched top, a back pattern, an ornament and the font of the shelf's title. There are 65 decorations to place between the books, such as plants, candles, mushroom lamps, crystals and a reading ghost, and Shelf lights turns on lights under the boards.
The Real book sizes switch draws each book at the height of its edition, so a mass market paperback stands shorter than a hardcover. You can keep as many bookshelves as you like and swipe between them. List and Mosaic views show the same books, with pills for All, TBR, Done, Reading and DNF, search, and sorting by title, author, date added, rating or progress.
The Bookshelf widget puts the shelf on your home screen, in medium and large sizes on iPhone, plus extra large portrait on iOS 27, and on Android at any size from 4 by 2 cells up to the whole home screen. How to add the bookshelf widget.

Bookmory keeps your books in a library with collections and a cover calendar. It has app themes, and custom themes are part of Premium.
Adding books
Search by title or author shows results at once and fills in covers, page counts and descriptions. The barcode scanner reads the ISBN with the camera on iPhone, Android and the web and opens the matching book, ready to add. A worn barcode can be typed in instead. When no record exists, you add the book by hand with the ISBN filled in and a photo of your own cover.
Each book has a status (to be read, reading, finished or did not finish), page progress, a rating in quarter stars and the dates you started and finished it. Bookmory has barcode scanning and quarter-star ratings on iPhone and Android. How to catalogue a home library by barcode.
Reading timer, Lock Screen and daily reminder
The Book Nook timer records each session with the page you started on and the page you reached. When you reach your daily minutes goal it tells you and keeps running, and saving a session at the last page marks the book as finished.
On iPhone the running timer shows on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island as a Live Activity, and you can start it without opening the app from Control Center, the Lock Screen or the Action button (iOS 18 or later). On Android it shows as a notification with Pause and Stop, and the Start reading tile in Quick Settings starts it on your last book. The timer also runs on the web. A daily reminder on iPhone and Android names the book you are reading, comes at 6:00 PM unless you change it, and stays quiet on a day you have already read.

Bookmory has a reading timer with a Live Activity on iPhone. Of the nine apps we compared, Book Nook is the only one with both a reading timer and book clubs. More on reading timer apps.
Reading statistics and goals
Book Nook's statistics show minutes and pages over time, a reading calendar, streaks, genres, a ratings chart and the list of books you have read. You set a daily minutes goal and a yearly books goal, and home screen widgets on iPhone and Android show today's minutes, your streak and whether you are ahead of pace for the year.

Bookmory keeps its full statistics for Premium, at $3.49 a month or $30.99 a year. In Book Nook every statistic, goal and widget is free with no ads.
Reading Wrapped for each month and year
Reading Wrapped turns each month and each year into pages: the books you finished, your time with them, your three favourites by rating, and a summary. The pages are 9:16, so the phone apps share them straight to Instagram Stories and TikTok, and the web saves them. Bookmory has an Annual Rewind for the year. How Reading Wrapped works.
Friends, book clubs and challenges
Book Nook has a feed of what the readers you follow are reading, finishing and reviewing, with likes and comments. Every book page has reviews and a discussion thread, with spoiler tags that readers tap to reveal.
Book clubs read one book at a time. Book Nook knows each member's page from the copy on their shelf, and a comment written further on than your page stays folded until you get there. Reading challenges have a goal and a deadline, and anyone can create one; the yearly reading challenge sits at the top of Community. Reading challenge ideas for 2027.
Nooks are groups with a thread of posts. You can join a public nook from Community or open any nook from its invite link. More on book club apps.

Points reward taking part: 10 for a review with text, 5 for finishing a book, 25 for finishing a challenge and 10 for meeting the yearly reading challenge. Stamps mark milestones such as a first review, a finished challenge and a met goal, and both show on your public profile. Bookmory has no friends, feed, book clubs or reading challenges.

Book Nook runs on iPhone and iPad (iOS 17 or later), Android (8.0 or later) and the web at trybooknook.com.
