Banners in the Wind
The McDonald series continues with the story of Josetta Jamison who, at the tender age of four, loses her beloved grandfather. The entire family mourns his loss, but with her innocent and loving attitude, she helps the family begin to heal. At first adversaries, Josetta and her cousin, Seth McDonald, grow beyond their differences and form a bond that deepens throughout their youth and into young adulthood. The Great War interrupts the family's life and Seth joins the military and soon after basic training is shipped to the muddy trenches on the front lines in France. He and Josetta promise to keep in touch through letters.
