The Whisperer

J. W. BECKER

Davey was at school sitting in his history class when he first heard it. It was a soft, indistinct whispering sound. He listened carefully but could barely hear it because it seemed far away. It also seemed like it was coming right at him. Days later, the whisper seemed to be with him wherever he went. Strange things started to happen, things that he didn't understand. Nightmares were plaguing him on a nightly basis and then people he knew started to be murdered. Davey found his best friend; Billy's father murdered in his own home. He managed to save Billy, but that left him an orphan. The whispering continued and became more intense, it seemed like there was no way to get away from it. As he dreamed about and watched people die around him, Davey thought he would go crazy if it didn't stop. Who was doing this to him? How could he make it stop? How many more would die before the killer he called 'The Whisper' would be discovered? He had all these questions, but no answers.
