Vagabond

Myron Humble

VAGABOND is the story of Charlie and his disappointments. Charlie despises religion and God and is trying his best to escape from God and his own past. However, everywhere he turns he falls into some trouble and has to fight his way out. He thinks...he claims that God has it in for him. After all God has taken his brother, his mother, and his beloved wife and they all trusted Him. Why should Charlie trust in God? However, he begins to realize God is pursuing him, like a hound on a trail and He won't give up until He has his quarry. As in the poem by Francis Thompson, The Hound of Heaven, Charlie feels helpless. ""I fled Him, down the nights and down the days; I fled Him, down the arches of the years; I fled Him, down the labyrinth ways of my own mind..."" How can Charlie escape from himself...or God? VAGABOND is a story of finding hope in spite of utter loss and disappointment, or of hope finding Charlie. This is a story of faith and God's persistent love. Jesus came to seek and to save the lost.
