The Testament

William Hallewell

Gabriel struggles with homelessness and an on-again / off-again relationship with the fiery Celeste. Living in a homeless tent city under a railroad trestle in the downtown area of Graceville, Gabe does all he can to help his fellow man and woman make the best of their situation. He is convinced that despite his situation, God is in control of his life and has put him in this place for a reason.

Lance Pembroke is a reporter who has concerns about the homeless population and wants to drive them from under the railroad trestle. Armed with his pen and a penchant for misguided revenge for his family, he begins his tirade against the downtrodden.

One night, while scavenging for scraps for a meal, Gabe finds a rusty knife in the trash. It is with this knife that he scratches a crude cross tattoo on his chest.

Meanwhile, Pembroke ramps up his ambitions to rid the city of the homeless. His meeting with the city council and ultimately Gabe himself yields nothing in the way of progress. It is only when Gabe wakes one morning to find that his cross tattoo has begun to bleed at the marks where Christ’s wounds would have been, that things begin to come to a head.

The bleeding tattoo won’t stop, a trail of blood following and announcing Gabe everywhere he goes, and when a well-placed photograph and a subsequent video go viral online, the result is a battle for the ages.

People from all over the globe converge on Graceville and the tent city, both good and evil, and the struggle for control begins.

Can the stigmata that is Gabe’s testament to God, stop Pembroke and his misguided revenge?
