In Paris, One Night
In Paris, in the glittering peace between the two world wars, a middle-aged painter is in love with his house guest, his wife's friend. In order to obtain a divorce, he decides to induce his wife to betray him. To this end, he offers free painting lessons to a promising porter, to give him an excuse to frequent the house, and encourages him to court his wife. After a precious sapphire is stolen in the vicinity, a brigadier begins to suspect the painter's wife...Presenting a comedy by the plot alone, without the vitality of the characters, is like showing only the skeleton of a beautiful woman: rather repellent.
