High Country Communities

Bob Powers has succeeded in translating the rural settlements, valleys, canyons and colorful characters of his beloved Kern River Valley into the text of his seven published books about his homeland. Now Bob leads his readers through this, his eight book, as he shares the lives of other pioneer families in the High Country Communities that surround the Kern River Valley. Bob tells of pioneers who crossed the continent in covered wagons, on horseback or on foot; fortune hunters who came around the horn by sailing vessels in search of riches, individuals and families who simply were looking for a better life.
