Complacency comes easily when you have been ensconced in evil for over half your life with no visible way to escape. But when the manager of the exclusive club I "work" at informs me that he has sold me to the man who has tortured me for majority of my memory, it gives me the kick in the ass I need to attempt escape, albeit without a plan.

Chaos seems to follow me like vultures follow carrion, but somehow I manage to meet a few people who make it all worth fighting for. A nurse nicknamed Ken Kesey, who saves my life from a rattlesnake bite, but more so, from the hospital stay that I am sure will send me straight back into the club’s searching arms. A drug-dealing, cowboy-hat wearing asshole who loves classic cars and has a soft spot for helping and fixing broken things, as much as he tries to deny it. An almost silent mortician covered in the worst scars I have ever seen, who relies on music as a grounding mechanism for his broken mind. Until he meets me and I become his obsession. A goliath who works as a fixer, and seems determined to complete his job to send me back to the club that has destroyed more than just my body. 3 of these men fall into my life and we seem to be inextricably linked to each other from the moment we meet.

I only ever wanted to move forward with my life, and to let the past rot in the boxes of my mind that I have buried as deep as possible.

Unfortunately, nothing that is buried stays buried forever, and the men who have come to stand by my side come face to face with my past and present demons.

But will they be able to save me when the Devil comes to collect what he believes is his due? Or will I be the cause of their demise instead? Will the nightmares of my past ever let me rest?
