Knife Edge

'Make me beautiful, make me beautiful..." Ella Fallon makes this secret wish every night. Ella and her lover Ed Leeming are rarities at Winfield, California's most exclusive college. And they have a lot in common. They are both scholarship kids. They are both withdrawn, plain, even ugly. They are both brilliant (they have to be). Their lives are made unbearable by the handsome, arrogant Scott Stockton, leader of 'The Beautiful Elite' heir to one of America's biggest industrial conglomerates. Until one day Ed stands up to him. And no one does that and gets away with it. In a certain light, Ed bears a marked resemblance to Scott Stockton, but that light doesn't shine too often. Ella and Ed are thrown together at first by their desire to be physically beautiful and then for self- protection. But later they find they are head over heels in love with each other - the real thing. If only Ella and Ed could be transformed into beautiful people. If only they could take the ultimate revenge on Scott Stockton. Enter the Svengali figure of Thomas Startz who is about to make their dreams come true.
