Broken Bonds

B. Terhune and Donna Pearlman

One young boy's struggle for acceptance and understanding in a place where neither are often found. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. When times get tough, the tough get going. These are clichés. Clichés used to explain when the plans of life go awry for no certain reason other than to smack you in face. In life, there's always some situation in which the outcome isn't always pleasant. People look for a way to define these situations. We just want to give them meaning. We sit at night and look to religion, science, and superstition to define the most random of things. There comes a time when you have to stop thinking about what happened, embrace it, and move on. Everyone has certain events in their life that have helped to make them who they are. We're known for how we act, what we do, and how we cope. Some call that "character". I call it moving the hell on. That's life.
