Evy
A long, emotional, and troubled romance between two lovers is recalled by an old man (the beau), who is reminiscing - or perhaps hallucinating - about the past. This spellbinding story of destiny and choices has the makings of an American saga.Set in a small Tennessee town in the late 1940s, the love story about a poor boy and a rich girl continues throughout their lives, detailing their growing self-confidence, their adventures and deepening of wisdom. There are religious overtones throughout, as the young protagonist, Loy, tries to reconcile his carnal needs with his spiritual conscience. His lover, Evy, is the catalyst for his feelings. Evy is a gripping story attesting to the philosophical, religious, and psychological aspects of growing up, as well as facing the pleasures and problems that befall those who love unwisely. Meanwhile, the consequences of their actions lie in wait.L. Douglas Ervin was raised in Tiptonville, Tennessee. Now retired, he lives with his wife in Slidell, Louisiana. He has taught high school and college English, worked in sales and as a seaman, and has been an artist and photographer. My chief obstacle was having to keep my wife, who is also my 'secretary, ' and whom I love dearly, convinced that the love scenes are truly fictional, which, of course, they are. Much of the story was a skeleton of my life fleshed out in fictional details, in other words, a pack of lies. Enough said. He is working on his next book.Publisher's Web site: http: //www.strategicpublishinggroup.com/title/Evy.html
