Beaverdam, Virginia: Life of an Outsider on the Inside
Beaverdam, Virginia: Life of an Outsider on the Inside is a humorous account of the author’s experiences and observations from his time living in a rural community in Virginia. After spending most of his life living and traveling abroad, the author and his family moved to a small farm, a mere stone’s throw from the town of Beaverdam. Settling down in this area wasn’t part of his master plan, far from it, but as he started to carve out his niche in his new environment, he began to enjoy watching the interesting behavior of the locals, listening to their stories, and appreciating life in the country. His experiences led to a lot of self-introspection including his own peculiar behavior.
