Finger Puppets: Easy to Make, Fun to Use
Everyday materials are listed, careful elementary instructions provided, and short folk tales and poems reprinted here for each of nine varieties of finger puppets, from unadorned wiggling digits to a painted face to characters made with construction paper, styrofoam or gloves. The suggestions will be as useful to parents working with pre-schoolers as they will to young performers; indeed, the simpler types, less stimulating than any in the author's Hand Puppets (1969), will not interest children who are old enough to read the book. Later suggestions, though, have more appeal, and children are encouraged throughout to create their own skits and costumes.
