Sacred Vows
James Vasquez is a young boy growing up in Cavite. The story unfolds as James goes through the cycles of childhood, puberty, and adolescence. He falls in love with a young girl, named Ariela, at their senior high school. When James learns that Ariela is leaving Cavite for Bohol, he is heartbroken, and this leads him to make a decision - to become a priest, which he had aspired to be starting when he was four years old. Ariela didn't tell James that she had heart disease, a congenital one, because she didn't want the way he felt for her to change. She feared that if he knew, he might grow cold and even worse, disdain her. Confused, she just left him a letter, telling James to wait for her. Away in Bohol, she didn't know that James entered the seminary. With the help of their parish priest, Father Paul Conrado, James becomes a priest. Coincidentally, he gets assigned as parish priest of Our Lady of Divine Mercy Chapel in Cavite, the same parish where he grew up. As fate would have it, that very same day, Ariela, goes back to Cavite alone, to be with. She stays with her friend, Jessie, who looks after her during her stay. What would befall the fate of James and Ariela?
