THE DEVIL'S PROMISES is a suspense novel based on true story inspired by the author to share with the world about her best friend's tragic past. Urged by his mother, Nora, who believes that the family is cursed, Jonathan Applegate leaves his grandmother's mansion in London as a young man to live his life independent of the family wealth. About thirty years later, in the year 2002, Jonathan realises that he needn't have bothered because the curse caught up with him and the life of his eldest daughter, Jacky, is at stake. Schaefer made a deal with the demons in the cave that each generation in his family would sacrifice a child or more in order to benefit from the power that also bestows immortality. Jonathan seems to stand little chance against the legions of demons that want his daughter and his undead grandfather who wants the relic. After all, he, his wife, second daughter Elizabeth, a detective, four priests, and a group of servants are hopelessly outnumbered.
