Ian MacKay, a scoundrel, seducer and his Regent's spy, is a man on a mission. Scotland's boy king had been locked in the Tower of London for a decade and Scotland is on the brink of civil war, something Ian would willingly die to prevent. Now he's uncovered an English spy in the Scottish court.

Tutor to the young imprisoned king, Kate Templeton is terrified. She must find out why the Scots have yet to ransom their king. Her visions of an embittered adult King James waging war on his own people, murdering the innocent, spurred her to make this perilous journey. Now the man she'd been warned to avoid at all costs is tracking her every move at court. Anxious to escape, she continues her dangerous game in hopes of bringing back solid proof to James that his countrymen haven't forgotten him. If she fails, she has no doubt hundreds will die.
