Evel Knievel

He's the tops. He's the winner. He's the King!

He's Evel Knievel, daring cycle jumper. Veteran of hundreds of successful death0defying leaps over the tops of cars, trucks, busses. Veteran, too, of the failed leap over the Snake River Canyon. Yes, Evel failed at Snake River, but no one else has even tried to make that jump.

What made Evel the daredevil cyclist he became? What persuaded him to devote years of practice and study to such a dangerous sport as cycle jumping? What gave him the strength and courage to go on after suffering many serious, near-fatal injuries?

Here, in words and pictures, is the story behind the man. It's a story of grit and determination, courage and a willingness to face uncertain odds. Above all, it's a story of the undaunted faith of one man in his ability to shape his own, unique destiny.
