The Raven Conspiracy

Michael F. Spratt

What The Raven Conspiracy is: A novel showcasing the unconventional characters that are drawn to living in a small beach town on the periphery of the USA. A story that includes many mysteries and a few crimes woven around a casual fun setting. What The Raven Conspiracy is not: A hard boiled dark crime novel. Although the story and characters are completely plausible; the treatment is lighthearted. Aficionados of serious sinister depravity could be disappointed. Why the characters may seem real: The people detailed are derived in part from individuals I have met. Five decades of university teaching and international business can expose you to a lot of the uniqueness in humanity. How was the time period chosen: A story about people and a location on the fringe needs a time that is equal to the task. The first week of March 2020 was a moment on the brink of awareness. I realized this when I ask the manager of a very successful restaurant on A1A what he thought about the virus being reported in the news. His response, "I haven't heard of it, but it will not affect us. We keep a very clean kitchen."My objective: For readers to be entertained and smile. If they laugh, bonus. If they figure out all mysteries early, I am surprised. If they get all cultural references, time to get on Jeopardy. My philosophy: Books, like life, should be fun.
