Demise

A couple is making aliya, moving to Israel, fulfilling the dream of generations. The path to the promised land is full of ghosts. Its well worn trail is pocked and rutted with the horrors of human history. Its ground is soaked in blood from millennia of conflict. Today, the road of pilgrimage has ascended to the heavens. The earth calls for pilgrims again to make their journeys upon her surface. Technological monsters roar through the sky, evading the loving embrace of gravity. The moans of ghosts wandering the overgrown trails below leak into the hermetically sealed airplane cabin. In the clouds, long dormant history stirs in its slumber, yawns, and rises again. The passengers come face to face with the force that propels them through the air.
