‘Tell me, Miss Blackthorne…’ he leant forward to whisper. ‘Does it scare you? Being here with me?’Iris Blackthorne has spent her whole life pretending to be ordinary – until a scholarship arrives from a mysterious university that she never applied to.Nestled on a secluded island off the coast of Stonewall, lies Ashcroft University – one of the oldest, most prestigious schools in the country.Eager to escape her shadowed past, she accepts – but Ashcroft is far from what it seems. Ghostly faces ripple in the water, students vanish without a trace, and masked figures haunt the woods. The ivy-covered walls hide secrets that could destroy her.And then there’s him…An irresistible, morally gray professor whose every stolen glance, every too-long touch, pulls her deeper into a web of dangerous desire. As Iris makes new discoveries, and the truth about Ashcroft begins to unravel, she realises that, with her unique ability, she may be the only one able to stop the evil lurking in the shadows. Perfect for fans of Gothikana and Pretty Little Liars, this eerie, fast-paced and deliciously spicy dark academia is a debut novel by author Abbey Tonkinson.

||In my opinion this book is not a dark romance, I would say it’s more of a YA thriller/mystery. Having said that I did enjoyed it. A cult of elites sacrificing students at a top university isn’t a completely unique plot however, this book does have elements to the story that makes it stand out on its own. I enjoyed the ghostly aspects, especially of course Boo. I found some of the plot slightly predictable, however I GASPED when it revealed who the informant and new recruit was.. I wasn’t expecting that! Excited to read the next book, hopefully we will discover who sent Boo and who slipped the letter to Adora signed -a friend.||
