Tempest’s Queen

4 1 rating · 1 review on Book Nook

The queen has won her crown. Now, she must prove she’s worthy to wear it. Six months ago, Teia Carthan seized the throne against all odds. She sacrificed everything—her morals, her friends, even the spark of love—to hear the whisper of her new title: Highness. Now, Teia sets sail across the Dark Sea to warn her cousin, the Shaylani emperor, of a threat that could doom the Five Kingdoms: Cornelius Lehm lives, and he’s planning to raise the Serkawr. But as she begins a furious journey across Shaylan, Teia knows she needs help to defeat Lehm—even if it means working with the very rebels she betrayed to claim her crown. Trust is a fragile thing, and Teia crushed it beneath her heel. Can she earn the Dawnbreakers’ friendship once again? Or will the consequences of her treachery win out, dragging all she’s fought for like a wave to the depths?

👑 𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓦𝓮𝓲𝓰𝓱𝓽 𝓸𝓯 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓒𝓻𝓸𝔀𝓷 👑 Tempest’s Queen is a story about what comes after the crown is won - when rebellion turns into rule, and survival demands choices far more complicated than war ever did. Teia has taken the throne through blood, strategy, and sacrifice, but being queen is lonelier than she ever imagined. The palace is full of eyes watching her every move, alliances are fragile, and the people she trusts most are just as vulnerable as she is. As threats rise from both within the court and beyond it, Teia is forced to balance mercy with strength, love with duty, and the kind of ruler she wants to be with the kind her kingdom needs. I truly loved this story. The political tension, the constant undercurrent of danger, and the sense that every decision carries lasting consequences kept me deeply invested. Tiffany Wang writes power as something heavy and isolating, and watching Teia navigate leadership, loyalty, and control was compelling from start to finish. She remains a smart, morally grey protagonist whose choices feel deliberate, even when they’re painful. That said, unlike the first book, I felt a bit more disconnected from the characters. While I was completely engaged with the plot, some emotional moments didn’t hit as strongly for me, and certain relationships felt more distant than before. I understood the stakes, but I didn’t always feel them as deeply. Still, the found family dynamics, the scheming, and the ever-shifting political landscape carried the story forward. The world feels broader, harsher, and more unforgiving, and the ending delivers a conclusion that feels earned - not easy, not gentle, but fitting for the journey Teia has taken. Tempest’s Queen is a powerful and thoughtful finale, centered on leadership, sacrifice, and the quiet loneliness of wearing a crown. Even with that slight emotional distance, I’m glad I followed Teia’s story to its end. 📅 Tempest’s Queen was released on October 28, 2025. Special thanks to NetGalley, Tiffany Wang, and Bindery Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
