Fractals by Cory Ench 2018 Wall Calendar

Mathematically based, Cory Ench s fractals are inspired by nature. Before discovering the flame fractal software that sparked a decades-long interest in digital fractals, Ench spent his artistic career focused on natural patterns and forms, and the relationships between them. In fractals, he digitally builds such forms, mimicking clouds, trees, leaves, mollusks, flowers, lightning, and more. Each image is the end result of a journey into the realms of infinitely diverse possibilities of mathematically based imagery, says Ench, a two-time winner of the international Benoit Mandelbrot Fractal Art Contest. The twelve images in this calendar are all flame fractals. The artist, based in the Pacific Northwest, also has painted posters for major festivals, such as Burning Man, and covers for science fiction and fantasy novels. He has created public murals for the National Park Service and other public agencies, fueled by a belief in the need for preservation of nature s treasures.
