Stories From The Hearth

Allyn Harth

About the Book

Stories From the Hearth is Harth Builder’s founder and CEO Allyn Harth’s first memoir.

Inspiring, encouraging, and heart-warming, Stories From The Hearth presents you Allyn’s life stories from his childhood during the Great Depression, his adventurous days in high school and college, and his successful entrepreneurship in founding his own company.

In this book, you will find that age is not a limit: one is never too old to dream a new dream. Allyn founded a remodeling/construction company at age 65, got the biggest surprise of his life in his late 80s, and just retired from his multimillion-dollar company at age 90. He recently received the “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), the most prestigious national award in this industry, at the age of 93!

No matter what stage of life you are in, you will gain valuable insights and lessons from Allyn’s stories.

From the Author

"You will read how opportunities like earning one dollar a day to pick potatoes in the fields and 25 cents to sweep the floor in the local drug store helped me learn the value of a dollar. Cycling my two sisters one mile to school on my second-hand beat-up Schwinn bike taught me to accept responsibility early in life. I learned to conquer my fears when a high school buddy flew me in his plane, and the engine failed. Achieving the ranks of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts and sergeant in the Marine Corps shaped my ability to persevere and lead. Raising a family with my beloved wife, Janice, enriched my life. Growing a successful remodeling business with my son Greg starting in my mid-60s, was the ultimate test of combining our business experience with joint trust and respect. Life is full of surprises. In my late 80s, I got one of the biggest surprises possible! I urge you to read my memoir in sequence so you can experience the impact of my unexpected discovery about my life. Kids like me who grew up in the Great Depression didn’t have material abundance or successful business models to emulate. Instead, I had a loving extended family who taught me practical skills, how to accept responsibility, and the value of demanding work. I learned to recognize and seize opportunities for advancement as I grew to adulthood. I invite you to read and enjoy these stories from the hearth and my heart to inspire future generations"
