There Was an Old Woman
Country of Origin: New Zealand Gavin Bishop illustrates an old English rhyme in a vertical board book for very young children. The illustrations bring housekeeping into the rhyme, with the washerwoman in her basket sweeping cobwebs from the sky. In this, Gavin was inspired by The Flight of the Old Woman Who Was Tossed Up in a Basket, sketched and etched by Aliquis, London; published by D. Bogue, 1844.
