The Anniversary

Using text from the poem ""The Anniversary"" by John Donne, composer Frederic Sharaf gives the Mezzo-soprano and piano a work about everlasting love, someday parted by death, reunited in heaven. An introduction by the piano as a movement unto itself leads into syllabic vocal lines with occasional dissonance, putting emphasis on each of Donnes profound and beautiful words.
