The Straw Boys
Jack and Kate move into a quiet rural village and are unaware that they have been lured by supernatural forces. Their fates are set when they buy an old cottage at the end of the lane.
Jack flourishes in the community, being given work and is treated like a local. Kate is shunned and kept as an outsider.
Unbeknown to him, Jack's heritage is wound up in the history of the village. Being a descendant of the Ashbury line, he has been drawn back to put right the wrongs of the past and becomes a terrible sacrifice.
This is Folk Horror at its best, with rural isolation, arcane ceremonies and enough suspense to send a chill straight down your spine.
