Lonely Is the Pioneer
Lonely Is the Pioneer is the story of a young girl whose family is wiped out in 750 AD during the Shiite-Sunnite battle to control Islam. It is a tale of yesterday that s become a tale of today. Driven by vengeance, Marisha lays a suicide-plan to avenge them. A long-lost uncle dissuades her and puts her on the path to become his guild's first woman Mebakker. The story is told using the voices of four different women travelling with her. The first speaks in a manner similar to the author of the Arabian Nights. The second, Berenice her Arab assistant, recounts how Hasan spends his waking hours trying to seek out Marisha to torture and kill her. The third, Margo a German girl she rescued from Mongolian slavery, records her travels from the Tamil Basin to Germany. The fourth, Leila a Jewish girl of Ain Kerim, finishes the tale of Marisha's adventures and discoveries. Though each is telling the same tale, each, speaking from her idiosyncratic perspective, recounts different episodes. "Lonely Is The Pioneer" occurs during the era while slam is under fraternal siege between Shia and Sunna; while Visigothic Spain is being conquered; while the seeds of the Holy Roman Empire are being planted by Charlemagne; while Haroun al-Rashid is ruling Baghdad, and while the Guardians are without leadership. The novel is concerned with a woman who can't forsake her plan to dole her vengeance on Hasan, the terrorist who murdered her family. She refuses to leave Iraq without the taste of a justified reprisal on her tongue, even if it means the loss of her own soul and the finish of the GUARDIANS. But it is also the story of a brilliant girl who finds redemptive love from a man whose birth may not occur for millennia. This historical novel is one of seven in an ArchaeoHistorical Diaheptaron tracing a two millennia design of a secret society called the Guardians. The sequence is told in seven voices: JUDE the Essene 40 AD; CONNOR Stratton 2115 AD; MICHEL the Gaul 180 & JOHN of Byzantium 600 AD; MARISHA of Antioch 750 AD; PADRAIG the Scribe 500 AD & JAIME-FELIPE the Translator 11227 AD; LEAH the 1332 AD & Abbe FRANCOIS 1440 AD. Marisha s family is slaughtered by Shi a fanatics intent on overthrowing the 750 A.D. Sunna Empire. Vowing revenge even if it leads to her own tortured death, she begins her trek through the known world. A long-lost uncle persuades her to take another mission that forces her visit the far-flung empires of Haroun al-Rashid, Charlemagne, the Mongols, and Ireland. Along her lonesome journey, she discovers that there is a man in the far future who is destined to be her future love.
