Water Balloon (Tales of the Barn Owl Bard)

Timothy Swiss

In this Tenth Tale of the Barn Owl Bard, a bashful brother decides to play a practical joke on a more boisterous brother who is much, much larger. The outcome is quite comical. Like all Tales of the Barn Owl Bard, the story is featured through twelve verses of metered and rhymed poetry.

The author’s youngest brother was very fond of creative pranks, such as turning off the source of hot water when an older brother was taking a shower. He once hid his much younger sister inside an inner tube on the Guadalupe River and watched the author dig frantically through a muddy bog of lily pads until their father came on the scene. In this book, the author reminisces upon an occasion when his youngest brother was on the receiving end of a prank, a prank conceived and conducted by the author. The outcome of the prank was notably successful and memorable.
