Time Lder: A Historical Novel

Elder CW "Charlie" Hancock lost his last two girlfriends. It is 1897 and farming in Southern Idaho does not provide much of a financial future for a bride. Elder CW is called by his bishop to travel by rail from Harrisville to Vancouver and by steamship "Warrimoo" to Honolulu then on to Laie for three years! But the real reason he accepts the calling is because he has two twin cousins with red hair who accepted their callings together and disappeared 10 years ago. He regularly travels between villages on horseback or mule looking for non-members or conducting church or disciplinary actions among the native Saints. He regularly travels by boat between the islands including Molokai, the leper colony. No bathrooms here. All of his baths are outside in canals, streams or seaside pools. His adventures include crossing mountain streams on horses, riding all day and night in the rain, and 17 mile hikes if your horse dies. No mattresses in Hawaii? No problem. The bed bugs and mosquitos will keep you up at night. When your clothes or shoes wear out, what do you do? And who would have thought in 1897 they already had Chinese 7-11's in Hawaii? Whether he is doing seaside baptisms, attending a feast with the prophet, or enduring companion's illnesses or his own, Elder CW makes the most of it.
