Abigail Williams lives in turmoil and fear in the slums of New York City. When she isn't struggling to earn money for her family, she is met by her father's hand and belt. Her only solace is in the letters to the man she found in Matrimonial Times. He keeps promising to send for her, but always has a reason to make her wait. Leroy Potter is a prospector in California. Like so many others, he is trying to strike it rich. It is lonely on his claim and he dreams of one day having enough money to get a wife to come out west. Unfortunately, when he finds one, he is prone to exaggerate about the life he is living. Stalling seems the only way. Abigail discovers she can pay her own passage to California to be with Leroy. When she arrives and learns the truth of Leroy's situation, she is heartbroken. Her future looks almost as bleak as the one she left behind in New York. Can Leroy somehow win the heart and regain the trust of this beautiful woman? Will Abigail be able to overcome her feelings to realize life's true blessings are not always obvious? A Disgruntled Bride in California is a sweet, clean historical romance suitable for all ages. FREE on Kindle Unlimited!
