Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis
So you or one of your loved ones has been diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC). First let me say how sorry I am to hear this. I know what a big shock this must be to you and your family because I was diagnosed with PSC some six years ago and I still remember the shock and feeling of helplessness that I felt as if it were yesterday. My life, and the life of those around me changed dramatically, and me and my family have been living with the effects of this terrible disease ever since.I wrote this book because, although, there is a lot of information available on internet, I found it difficult to find one collective source that answered all of my questions. At the same time a lot of the information I found was produced for medical practitioners and I just had trouble understanding what I was reading. It is difficult to understand because a lot of the names and terms used are medical names and expressions, so obviously, someone without a medical background, someone like me, would have difficulty understanding their meaning. Yes, there are many support groups and discussion forums and these are very good, but for me I still found it very difficult to find what I was looking for.Anyway, I have tried to write something that we can all understand, although, because of PSC's complex nature it has not been possible to get rid of all of the medical terms and references. I hope this book helps you so that you can concentrate all of your energy on fighting your illness.
