The Venetian Canvas Caper (The Evelyn Chambers Senior Spy Series)

Retired nurse and CIA consultant Evelyn Chambers is often called in for situations that require a gentle approach. When the U.S. Embassy in Venice receives a quiet report that a painting by an American artist in a private collection may be forged, Evelyn is asked to serve as an Embassy-referred cultural liaison to take a discreet look at the canvas. No accusations. No investigation. Just a simple assessment before diplomatic questions arise. But Venice offers few straight answers. From her initial meetings with the cataloger to tense family encounters, Evelyn finds herself navigating evasions, guarded smiles, and a growing sense that the painting is tied to something far more intentional than a simple oversight. Then someone from Evelyn’s past makes an unexpected appearance, and she knows this inquiry has crossed into far more dangerous territory.
