Coming to Terms

Afflatus Muse

Everyone knows that magic is impossible within the Rith for all beings except the Afflatus, though the reasons why haven't exactly been explained. Magic is the underlying code to the universe; it is not what comprises the universe, rather, it is what makes manipulation of it possible. Because that underlying lattice is visible in the Ea, beings are able to manipulate and change the world around them using it.In the Rith, that is not the case. The only reason the Afflatus can use magic within the Ea is because he, himself, is composed of magic, giving him complete and total control over the code of the universe. Only he and the Muse are made of magic, and they vowed to each other long ago that it would stay that way.The Muse has broken that vow, and created a child out of magic. She also breaks another vow, and smuggles her into the Rith. Now, as this child grows up in the hands of a spindly old woman, she grows tired of her awful treatment. On her seventeenth birthday, she flees, and enrolls herself within the local boarding school. Normally, this would take time, money, and paperwork, but with this young girl being as powerful as a God...She starts class the next day.
