Romans: God's Involvement in Humanity

Dr Jim Hastings

Have you ever read Paul's letter to the Romans and noticed the following terms: the power of God, the kindness of God, ministry of God, the gospel of God, Son of God, Spirit of God, the righteousness of God, the wrath of God, the judgment of God, and the beloved of God? Those terms and many more are right in the Scripture, and most of the time, we gloss over them, looking for the theme of the passage we are reading. Those terms are the themes of the Roman letter, and as they are presented, they are discussed. Once you study Romans with these terms as the themes, the true message and intent of God comes to life in your heart and soul.

Additionally, in Paul’s letter to the Rome Church, after the introduction, he speaks to the Jews for six chapters about Jewish things with the Gentiles listening in. Then he speaks to the Gentiles about Gentile things with the Jews listening in. He then concludes by speaking to both together to instruct the Rome Church how to proceed as the beloved saints of God.

The chapters in this commentary match the chapters in your Bible. Think of this commentary as a Study Bible for Romans.
