Glint of Gold

Frances Paige

Martin and Merle enjoy their holidays away from their home in Kent, traveling through France. What appeals is not the big cities but the small villages, still sleepy in the mid-1960s. They are especially taken with Bernay, not only for its bucolic environs and slower pace but also for the people. Martin becomes good friends with the local hotelier and his wife. Soon, though, it becomes apparent that all is not well in his friend's marriage. This, however, doesn't deter them from purchasing a home in Bernay.
