House of Fire

"By Fire, we are cleansed, Through fire, we are forged. In fire, we return to the Earth." The motto of the House of Fire and the prestigious Ilamantium order. The Order is the only thing keeping the twisted beasts of Illeria from overrunning Vail, the last bastion of humanity on the continent. They have the ability to wield a mysterious power from a stone, Ilamantium, that enhances their bodies and minds far beyond that of a normal person. But only noble born have ever been found to have the ability to wield the power of the stone. That is challenged when a crumb named Ward, a seventeen year old boy from the small village of Alcorn, is chosen at the Affinity Ceremony to become an initiate and train at the House of Fire. Crumbs are meant to serve, not protect. When Ward breaks that mold and challenges the order of his society, the noble born that are forced to train along side him aren't eager to share in their glory. Ward represents a threat to their way of life. A threat to the invisible, but very real, societal divide that has plagued Vail for a thousand years. Can Ward overcome the bigotry of those he is forced to live with? Or will he fail, and revert back to a life of little more than slavery. Little does Ward know, there is far more at stake than just surviving the rigorous training at the House of Fire. His world spirals more out of control as he discovers secrets of Vails and his own tumultuous past, discovers new enemies, and is thrown into a war that started long before him. All while trying to tear down the barriers that has unjustly kept the crumbs oppressed for so long.
