Nyles and the Last Little Monkey

Anthony Richie Gray

"Nyles and the Last Little Monkey" is a fictitious book about survival. Pre-teens and teens will glean from the story and the book's graphic hand-drawn illustrations about youths growing up fast and short at the proverbial local watering hole. The main character Nyle Cameron Gray gets a lesson in the form of a book from his father, called The Last Lil' Monkey. Nyles never expected how much he and the monkey would have in common. It is a book about overcoming the issues of life without being caught up in the asphalt jungle in Chicago's housing projects. This book is dedicated to the memory of Robert Taylor Homes. Nyles and the Last Lil' Monkey was written to answer the fear multitudes of parents and children experience daily living in a big city. The fear caused by the many news stories reporting the tragedy of young people involved with drugs. The story came to author Anthony Gray when thinking about a poem written by Dr. Margaret Burroughs entitled "What Shall I Tell My Children." The answer is found in the pages of this book.
