Nanobot

Safe drinking water is extinct. By infusing every known source of water with a deadly nanomachine, Gurt Vilane has put mankind at death's door. He alone manufactures the only filtration device that will remove it. Every human life on earth depends on him. Dr. Cynthia Blare, the world's foremost water expert, is charged with finding a yet unknown source of pure water. Her chances are slim and time is running out as millions die every month. One member of her team, Dr. Bunder Vance, is brash and impatient with Cynthia's methodical style and maddening schedules, yet under very adverse conditions they succeed in working together toward the common good. A Vilane employee named Marla Kinney has caused delays that plague the team's efforts. Marla, who will do anything Gurt asks of her - even commit murder - has become Cynthia's adversary although at one time she was her best friend. After months of waiting, Cynthia's team finds pure water deep within the earth's crust. Now begins the fight over control of the newly discovered water and Cynthia is forced to make an impossible decision to preserve the safety of mankind's last resource of pure water.
