The People We Know
Haylie Saunders is a lone survivor. The only woman spared when her first night dancing at a Chicago strip club ends with a mass murder-suicide. The night was supposed to be a one-off; a trial she allowed her best friend Jenny to talk her into. A necessity if she wanted to be able to pay her sorority dues. Instead of a typical evening of dancing, the night ends in tragedy. Jenny, along with thirteen other women, is murdered, and Haylie's life begins to crumble.
Kennedy King is a bakery owner living an idyllic life in Stowe, Vermont. She has the perfect home, the perfect husband, the perfect business. Her world is seemingly unblemished, until she begins receiving horrifying text messages after an eerily similar killing occurs in a South Beach, Miami strip club. The past she has worked so hard to move away from, to cover up, is now threatening to expose itself.
In the wake of the second killing, the two women are inextricably bound; by secrets, and shame, and trying to find a way to move on with their lives. The People We Know dives into the power of secrets, invulnerability, and just how little we truly know the ones we love.
