Child Anxiety Learning Modules (CALM): A Manual for School Nurses : Nurse's Guide
"Child Anxiety Learning Modules (CALM): A Manual for School Nurses provides a brief and practical program to help students struggling with anxiety. The program is based on cognitive behavioral strategies that are effective in reducing anxiety. The CALM program was developed by the authors for busy elementary school nurses and is designed to be delivered to individual students in five 15-30-minute meetings, with an optional (and strongly recommended) parent meeting. The effectiveness of the CALM program was evaluated with students ages 5-12 and found to reduce anxiety, improve academic functioning, and be cost effective (see Chapter 3). The CALM program can be used with any student the nurse observes is struggling with anxiety, though consultation with the school's mental health team is critical to coordinate (and not duplicate) services"-- Provided by publisher.
