Three Scripts in Search of a Deal
Movie scripts are written by the thousands each year, and many are in fact enchanting stories. But unless you are a reader for a script contest, you'll likely never read them, or even know they exist. They deserve to be read, and hopefully appreciated. This collection of three scripts cover a broad range of comedy situations from the down-to-earth to the most absurd fantasy."Bigfeet" is by far the most imaginative, involving a low-budget film company making a Bigfoot-themed T&A exploitation movie, when a real Bigfoot creature wanders onto the forest setting and falls in love with one of the ape-suited actors. Hell hath no fury like a Bigfoot scorned."Vinnie G." draws on real incidents at zoos where a child accidentally fell into a gorilla enclosure and one of the gorillas actually protected the child and assisted zookeepers in rescuing the child. In this story, that kind of accident occurs and the ensuing public enthusiasm for the hero gorilla helps the zoo recover from the brink of bankruptcy. But when the gorilla accidentally dies, the zoo director resorts to an ingeniously desperate measure to try and hold on to the public's enchantment (and profitable attendance) of the hero gorilla. "The Eight Great" takes a classical issue of major business institutions, where a female assistant makes a male executive look brilliantly skillful. In this story's company, there are eight top male executives, taking a two week male-bonding holiday orgy in a tropical resort, leaving the assistants to hold down the fort. But the company comes under attack from mysterious but skillful adversaries seemingly intent on destroying the company. The eight ladies must rise to the challenge of defending the company and outsmarting the attackers, all the while making it appear the men are fully in charge and managing the crisis. The movie script is a curious form of literature, but should be rightfully appreciated in it's own form. If it hasn't survived the imposing gauntlet of challenges one must surmount to finally be made into a movie, it still may have merit to be read and enjoyed.
