Grimstone

Braytons Barracks. Though it may seem like a fort out in the middle of nowhere, it's actually one of the most prestigious barracks in the entire kingdom. Some of the most respected knights have come from this place, and now a group of city kids are going to see if they have what it takes to become squires. Helping them is a paladin trainee who can hardly hold a sword and a pretty boy who can't stand the lot of them. Together, they'll fight for a chance to pass the entrance exams. Though the biggest challenge may have seemed like the exams, everything changes when one succeeds in pulling out a hero's weapon from Volo Refuge. Now it's a race to complete the hero's last request or risk losing their chance to become a knight. Chosen by the Blade is the first of the Grimstone series. A collection of novels that follow the path set forth by the squires of the Grimstone Squad as they attempt to find their own definition of what it means to be a knight. They'll seek to defeat monsters, uncover the legacies left to them, and break past the prejudices that oppose them within the Kingdom of Lustro.
