The sprawling metro area of the M in the Northeast Regional Sovereignty is a rough and tumble existence day to day, a seething morass of soul-corroding villainous villainy. When one of the contraband “witches” of Isle Royale is thrown into this revolting mix she lands smack-bang on top of unlicensed private investigator Kim Murayama. With the grudging assistance of his old army buddy Dave Hanson, Murayama agrees to return the witch to her prohibited island in the cold northern waters of Lake Superior. But is it his idea? It’s a see-saw battle against a corrupt industry plying the secrets of immortality, the spiteful, unearthly malevolence of the Darkness, and Murayama’s unending challenge of trying to figure out what's going on while endeavoring manfully to clean up his language.
