1938 England, with WW2 looming, Tom never revealed to his sister Queen that he had read the letters and fallen in love with her Pen Pal Enid, who lived in rural Newfoundland. Thus sparing Enid from yet another disappointment in her life, should he not return from the war. Enduring gun fire, land mines, missiles and bombs launched from land, air and sea. Tom miraculously survived against insurmountable odds during his involvement in five campaigns over a 61/2 year period of death and utter destruction, to emerge still determined to win Enid's heart. Fully aware that after so many years away,he may have already lost the one thing he desired the most, to another Tom's most meaningful battle was yet to come, that of healing a broken and untrusting heart. Proving that dreams do come true, perseverance prevails and patience is a virtue. All because a young girl reached out looking for a new friend.
