What Lies Beyond the Mountain
Roan's family has always been on the run. From what, she doesn't know. All she knows is that she shouldn't get too comfortable in any place they live. Within the thirteen years of her life, they've moved fifteen times. Of course her parents swear that this house will be the final one. Beech Mountain is a small town in North Carolina where only three hundred and twenty two people reside. Two of those people include Sadee Thompson and Âkir Owen, who have been best friends and neighbors since they were five. When Roan moves there and starts going to school, Sadee is anxious to become friends with her. When the three of them get paired up for a group project, Âkir has the brilliant idea to go to Roan's house to study for it.That's when things begin to go awry. Monsters that Âkir cannot see start attacking Sadee and Roan, and Roan's family goes missing. This leads them on a hunt to find them and bring them home safely. The only problem is, they don't even know if they're going in the right direction, or who took them.
