The Deacon's Journey - James the Deacon

In The Deacon's Journey, James, a humble companion to Bishop Paulinus, is called to spread Christianity in the rugged and pagan lands of 7th-century Northumbria. Amid violence, doubt, and the resurgence of old gods after King Edwin's death, James remains steadfast, nurturing a small community of believers. Through trials of faith and encounters with unlikely allies, James grows into a leader, embodying perseverance and spiritual resilience. The story chronicles the reemergence of Christianity under King Oswald, forcing James to reconcile his vision of faith with the challenges of enforced conversion. As he mentors a new generation, James realizes that his legacy lies not in grand achievements but in the enduring faith of those he has inspired. A tale of sacrifice, hope, and quiet conviction, this historical novel celebrates the transformative power of faith and community.
