The House the Devil Built
After purchasing a plantation home in the picturesque town of Acadian Springs, Louisiana, in the heart of Cajun country, Ashton and Dillon hoped the peace and quiet of this town would allow them to escape the insanity and problems that had forced them to move from New Orleans. Soon they find themselves facing more than just the problems that had precipitated their move. The hypocrisy and harassment they find from the majority of their new neighbors are a far cry from the sleepy, laid back town they had expected. Fueled by the strange goings on in their home and the actions of the local townspeople, inner demons begin to manifest into something larger. Ashton, Dillon, and the whole town of Acadian Springs, LA, find themselves fighting against ignorance and morality, pride and prejudices, and eventually, even their own mortality.

Ratings and reviews
Ashton is an author who was just released from rehab. His husband Dillon has moved them into an older plantation style home in Acadian Springs, Louisiana. They encounter the ever so welcoming town Pastor Terry, married with a son he can’t connect with. Terry shows his true colours, right after the encounter. Vandalism brings in, the town sheriff Mark who’s best friend is Pastor Terry. Mark is married to a woman with kids. Mark is dealing with a secret of his own. after some research.. he forgets to clear the browser history.. which leads to his son being sent to a conversion camp, while dealing with the mess Terry is causing Ashton and Dillon.. But the plantation has a secret of its own.. and it has it eyes set on Ashton. Will Dillon and Mark be able to save Ashton and the town before it all goes up in flames.. My Opinion: I am an agnostic atheist.. I think religion is harmful. But if you find solace in it, no judgement. Pastor Terry is one of the worst characters in this book. He has nothing but hate in his heart. Sticking his nose where it doesn’t belong. I think Dillon is a wonderful husband, but is spontaneous and doesnt do his research. Ashton is a complex character, vulnerable in many ways. Mark is dealing with his own thing. Falling for Dillon and doing stuff with Ashton, was not in my bingo cards. But prioritising them over his son while son is sent to conversion camp made me mad. Luke- is Terry’s son is a laid back character. But when he learns what his father has in store for Mark’s son Marsh. He tries to stop it. Marsh- all I have to say is this poor kid. The book has editing errors. Which makes some reviewers take a point away. Not this time for me. I truly liked this book. It saddened me and angered me. But i also didn’t see where things were going to go with this either. ⚠️ Trigger Warnings⚠️
