Emily Hall and Nate Hall

Why is this happening to us? What did I do wrong? How can I help my unborn child? Why him?

Having a complicated pregnancy is extremely hard on both the mom, dad and child. Whether it's pre-eclampsia, diabetes, or any number of things. One thing that makes it worse is when the complication's are with the baby. At our prenatal appointment where we were to find out the gender of our baby we go news that would turn our lives upside down. Our child has Spina Bifida. The next few months were full of depression, anxiety, and of course, lots and lots of doctor appointments with tons of specialists that we never thought we would need.

No matter who you think these little fighters are, they will surprise you. They will surprise you with their can-do attitudes, their ability to do anything they put their minds to no matter the odds, and how much they love life! Follow my husband and I through the ups and downs of my complicated pregnancy and the birth of our first born.
