Absalom: Prince of Israel

Robert A Allen

A three-act play based on the biblical account of Absalom from I Samuel, chapters 11-19. Rivalry and intrigue plague the family of David, king of Israel. Amnon, his eldest son, fears the strength and popularity of Absalom. Absalom despises Amnon and disregards the God of his father. Joab, the captain of the army of Israel, plots to assure his continued position no matter who wins. Set against the battle for victory over the Ammonites, and the spiritual battles of both Absalom and King David, the play exposes both the frailty of men and the overwhelming mercy of God.
