Everblack: The Pilgrim Abyss
The fog of war is thick, and all are made blind by it. The Kingdom of Runador is isolated by an ancient evil, cut off from the world and struggling to make sense of their danger. Compelled to lead from the front, Prince Ayithir leaves with a unique company to make sense of their predicament. But in his absence, the death of the king leaves the land with no choice but to become a military state; finally, the legions are mobilized. From flamethrowing war machines and blades of sunlight-infused steel, to guerrilla-fighting camouflaged hunters and horse-riding warriors, the legions of Runador are a force against which no mortal army can stand. But they soon find that their foe is beyond mortal, a thing from the abyss itself; or, as the people call it: the Everblack. The forces of Runador are not prepared for the surreal horror now upon them, and the fate of the land will rest in the hands of the King-to-be. The hero’s journey will lead Ayithir into the abyss itself to emerge from his trials equipped and ready to face the horrors of what has become of his kingdom. Everblack: The Pilgrim Abyss is about a kingdom thrust into a survival horror scenario. The magic of this world is not obtuse, not of fairies, fireballs, or dragons; rather, it is visceral and hauntingly plausible. It is a tale of heroism and valor, of tragedy and loss, and great sacrifice…while a supernatural darkness haunts the periphery, punctuating the story with stark horror. Balanced with this horror is the wholesome goodness found in humanity at its darkest times, providing a dynamic and varied tone throughout the book.
Upon finishing Everblack, you will believe the unbelievable, and will feel that you've been through war.
